Cintas Corporation to deploy Workhorse E-GENâ„¢ Step Van in Field Test

Cintas Corporation (Nasdaq: CTAS) announced that it will deploy a Workhorse E-GEN™ hybrid electric step van in its fleet operations for a six-month field test in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Matthew Rose, Corporate Director of Fleet for Cintas Corporation said, "We're excited to be working with the Workhorse Group and look forward to evaluating the Workhorse E-GEN vehicle. Based on the energy-efficient design, it appears that Workhorse’s unique capabilities may give us an opportunity to reduce emissions in certain delivery situations."

This six-month field test will enable Cintas to deploy the vehicle in a real-world environment on delivery and service routes, with the potential to add more trucks being deployed in additional routes in Cintas’ national fleet system.

The Workhorse E-GEN step van is the first of its kind: purpose-built for the daily delivery and service vehicle market. It offers more than three times the miles per gallon than typical gasoline-powered step vans in use today. The E-GEN power train is unique in that it employs a 2200 nm permanent magnet motor/generator for propulsion plus a small internal combustion engine that turns a small electric motor to recharge the battery pack when the state of charge reaches a pre-determined level.

Steve Burns, CEO of Workhorse Group Inc. (NASDAQ: WKHS), added, "We are delighted to be working with Cintas Corporation and having our EPA-approved hybrid electric E-GEN vehicle on the streets in Cincinnati. Workhorse E-GEN’s set a new standard for greenhouse gas reductions in the service and delivery markets and we believe that it will set a new standard for the corporate identity uniform marketplace, an industry whose local delivery and service routes are perfectly suited for our E-GEN trucks."
