Growth Rate of Eligible Coronavirus Cases Is the Last Hurdle to Trigger World Bank's Pandemic Bonds

All conditions have been met to trigger the pandemic bonds sponsored by the World Bank Group (WBG), except for a positive growth rate of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases in the International Development Association (IDA; part of the WBG) and the International Bank Reconstruction and Development (IBRD; part of the WBG) countries. DBRS Morningstar anticipates that this last condition can be met by late May when the 12-week rolling period for the calculation excludes most of the impact of China stabilizing its number of coronavirus cases after mid-February.
