BioSolar to Attend Annual International Battery Seminar to Explore Commercial Opportunities

Premier Industry Conference Attended by Battery Manufacturers, Developers of Advanced Materials and Components, National Labs, and Key Government Agencies

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., March 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BioSolar, Inc. (OTCQB:BSRC), a developer of breakthrough energy storage technology and materials, today announced that its executives will attend the in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this month to explore potential commercial opportunities for BioSolar’s silicon (Si) anode additive technology designed to boost the performance of next generation lithium-ion batteries.

As the longest-running global battery industry event, the International Battery Seminar & Exhibit is focused on advanced battery technologies and their applications to consumer, automotive and military technologies, among others. It is generally expected that important battery technology innovations and new products will be presented and debuted at the March event, as well as general networking sessions available to internationally recognized parties. BioSolar CEO David Lee and research team members will attend and share updates surrounding the progress and commercialization efforts for BioSolar’s Si anode additive technology.

“It is very important for our team’s commercialization efforts to attend conferences of this caliber and meet with such a wide network of influencers that possess depth of knowledge of the industry and various battery technologies,” said Dr. David Lee, CEO of BioSolar. “We have made it clear to attending parties, influencers, and potential partners that BioSolar is confident that our proprietary additive technology will be extremely beneficial to battery manufacturers, as well as all electric device companies, that continue to seek batteries that are high energy and high power at low costs.”

The industry standard for Si anodes currently uses Si nano-particles, but the difficulty of manufacturing raw Si nano-particle materials remains a costly challenge. By contrast, Si micro-particles are easier to manufacture at a significantly lower cost. Unfortunately, anodes made from Si micro-particles are more prone to damage during battery charging and discharging due to volume expansion, thus not yet commercially viable. BioSolar’s innovative anode additive technology is designed to solve this problem.

About BioSolar, Inc.

BioSolar is developing a breakthrough technology to increase the storage capacity, lower the cost and extend the life of lithium-ion batteries. A battery contains two major parts, a cathode and an anode, that function together as the positive and negative sides. BioSolar initially focused its development effort on high capacity cathode materials since most of today's Li-ion batteries are "cathode limited." With the goal of creating the company's next generation super battery technology, BioSolar is currently investigating high capacity anode materials recognizing the fact that the overall battery capacity is determined by combination of both cathode and anode. By integrating BioSolar's high capacity cathode or anode, battery manufacturers will be able to create a super lithium-ion battery that can double the range of a Tesla, power an iPhone for two days straight, or store daytime solar energy for nighttime use. Founded with the vision of developing breakthrough energy technologies, BioSolar's previous successes include the world's first UL approved bio-based back sheet for use in solar panels.
