Canadian National CEO Departs; Chief Marketing Officer JJ Ruest Appointed Interim CEO

Canadian National Railway announced on March 5 that CEO Luc Jobin is leaving the firm immediately, and the board has appointed JJ Ruest as interim president and CEO. Ruest has worked 22 years for CN, including the most recent eight as executive VP and chief marketing officer. Jobin is not a long-time railroader, but came to CN as CFO in 2009, and then the board appointed him CEO in July 2016. We maintain our wide moat rating and our fair value estimate.
