First Quantum to Acquire Additional 10% Stake in Cobre Panama Mine; We Trim Our FVE to CAD 6

First Quantum announced plans to purchase an additional 10% stake in its Cobre Panama mine that is under construction and expected to begin production by 2019. The acquisition will bring the company’s total ownership in the mine to 90%. We think the company has slightly overpaid for the acquisition, which will increase midcycle profits only 8%. Accordingly, we trim our fair value estimate to CAD 6 per share from CAD 6.20.
