Palo Alto Names New CEO and Releases 3Q Revenue Ahead of Earnings
On June 1, after the market close, Palo Alto Networks named former SoftBank Group President and Chief Operating Officer Nikesh Arora as its next chairman and chief executive. Arora was a longtime executive at Google, where he served as chief business officer. This news was a surprise to us, as Mark McLaughlin, who had been the CEO since 2011 and was chief when the company went public, gave no prior indication that he wished to step down in the foreseeable future. The company's platform uses a traffic classification engine that identifies network traffic by application, user, and content and provides security across the network, endpoint, and cloud. The company's product, subscription, and support offerings include: firewall appliances and software; and Panorama, which is a centralized security management solution for global control of various firewall appliances and software deployed on an end-customer's network as well as in their instances in public or private cloud environments as a virtual appliance or a physical appliance.
