Saputo’s 3Q Results Reflect Challenges of Milking Profits in Largely Commodified Environment
We plan to maintain our CAD 32 fair value estimate after narrow-moat Saputo reported third-quarter results that largely met our expectations. Sales were up nearly 2% during the quarter, and adjusted EBITDA margin stood at 10.5%, in line with our outlook for above 2% revenue growth and 12% adjusted EBITDA margin for the year. However, challenging dairy market dynamics weighed on profitability in the firm’s U.S. business, with adjusted EBITDA falling 23% over last year.
