T-Mobile U.S. and Sprint End Merger Negotiations, No Change to Our FVEs
On Nov. 4, T-Mobile U.S. and Sprint announced they have called off their negotiations to merge. The two firms could not reach an agreement on terms, which we assume relates to price and control of the combined firm. Since we have continually valued the two companies on a standalone basis, there is no change to our fair value estimates of $67 per T-Mobile share and $5.25 per Sprint share. We are also maintaining our no-moat ratings for both firms. We believe T-Mobile’s shares are undervalued and ...T-Mobile US provides mobile communications services, including voice, messaging and data, under its brands, T-Mobile and Metro? by T-Mobile, in the United States, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands. The company provides mobile communications services using its 4G Long-Term Evolution network and its 5G technology network. The company also provides various wireless devices, including handsets, tablets and other mobile communication devices, and accessories for sale, as well as financing through Equipment Installment Plans and leasing through JUMP! On Demand?. The company provides reinsurance for handset insurance policies and extended warranty contracts offered to its mobile communications customers.
