WOOD Flash – GTC: prices EUR 455m bond with an 8% yield

The EUR 455m new October 2030 bond that GTC is using to refinance the EUR 494m June 2025 maturity has been priced at 95 cents to the EUR, translating into a 7.7% yield to maturity. This marks a key milestone for the company, which will be able to use the proceeds to repay the EUR 494m June 2026E tranche. This removes a key near-term going concern threat for GTC. However, it does not mean that the company will be out of the woods completely. GTC needs to still extend the bank loans in Germany and CEE due in the next 12-18M. It needs to start selling properties in Germany, to be able to repay the expensive Baupost / Diameter financing. Subsequently, having averted a catastrophic outcome, the focus will need to shift to recurring cash earnings – which will not be easy, as the cost of funding will weigh on returns.
