WOOD Flash – MTS: 3Q18 results review and key takeaways from the earnings call

MTS reported its 3Q18 results yesterday (20 November). The operating results were strong, with the OIBDA growing by 7% yoy to RUB 52.3bn (4% above our forecast) under the old standards. Under the new reporting standards, the OIBDA came in at RUB 59.3bn, 2% above our forecast, 4% above the consensus. The OIBDA in the quarter was supported by the MTS Bank consolidation (a RUB 1.1bn impact) and organic growth (RUB 3.1bn), while harmed by the ban on roaming charges (RUB 0.3bn) and the hike in spectrum fees (RUB 0.4bn).
