The study offers detailed insight into the opinions and sentiments of institutional investors in Germany on the topic of impact investing. * Growing interest despite uncertainty: Although impact investing is becoming increasingly important, many investors remain uncertain about future allocations. Factors such as regulatory requirements, interest rate developments and geopolitical tensions significantly influence the decision-making processes. * Importance of transparency: The study shows that transparency remains essential for trust and credibility in this market. Investors are demanding clearer standards and more comprehensive information to avoid practices such as green or impact washing. * Focus on specific asset classes: Infrastructure and private equity clearly continue to be the focus of many impact investors, while other asset classes such as real estate and venture capital are seeing increasing interest. * Combination of returns and impact: The clear majority of investors surveyed strive for returns in line with the market that are accompanied by measurable social and ecological impacts. There is a high need for investment, particularly in the areas of energy, climate protection and social infrastructure. The survey was conducted from July to September 2024 and included more than 100 investors from various groups, including family offices, asset managers, pension institutions and insurance companies. In addition to an online survey, qualitative interviews were conducted to deepen the results and gain additional insights. “Impact investing has established itself as a central component of modern portfolio strategies. However, the study highlights the existing need for action with regard to market transparency and diversity of offerings.
