Chicago Virtual Charter School Opens Enrollment for 2017-2018 School Year

Chicago Virtual Charter School (CVCS), a full-time online public school, welcomes families with students in kindergarten through 12th grade to enroll for the 2017-2018 academic year. Open, tuition-free, to all students who reside in Chicago, CVCS uses a blended learning model – combining online learning with in-person instruction – to ensure every student receives an exceptional learning experience.

CVCS provides core courses in English/language arts, math, science, history and art to students in grades K-8. In addition to core courses and electives, high school students can access Advanced Placement® courses, as well as up to four levels of world languages. CVCS students receive instruction from their teachers during live, interactive online classes, as well as through recorded sessions. Once per week, students attend the CVCS Learning Center, where they receive direct instruction and support from certified teachers and staff.

“By providing an option for blended learning within the Chicago Public School System, we’re giving families the opportunity to choose a learning environment that may best suit their needs and help students reach their true potential,” said Dr. Richard Lebrón, head of school at Chicago Virtual Charter School. “Our interactive curriculum and instruction combined with teacher support and hands on materials puts CVCS students on the path toward academic achievement, while helping to discover and nurture each student’s individual learning style.”

The CVCS Learning Center, centrally located in the West Loop, gives students opportunities to collaborate with their peers in classrooms, receive individual remediation and enrichment, and foster school community. This unique blended model provides families with a quality school choice and students with an exciting public school option featuring greater flexibility and self-pacing.

In addition to the CVCS Learning Center, students are supported by state-certified teachers who respond quickly to requests, provide online academic instruction, monitor student progress and attendance, and serve as a resource for curriculum, content, and questions. Parents and students communicate with teachers through e-mail, phone calls, and online class meetings.

CVCS is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. Parents are encouraged to attend one of the online information sessions hosted by the school each month. More information on CVCS and upcoming events can be found at http://cvcs.k12.com/.
