Insight School of Oklahoma to Celebrate Class of 2017

Insight School of Oklahoma (ISOK), a tuition-free, online public school serving students in grades 7-12, will celebrate the Class of 2017 at a graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 18, at the First Baptist Church of Edmond.

Forty-six high school seniors who learned online will graduate from the school, which offers a comprehensive education approach with targeted support specifically for struggling students. ISOK’s state-certified teachers provide assistance helping students fill in skill gaps and move toward high school graduation, which makes this event particularly meaningful for ISOK students and families.

“Our students have all worked so hard to reach this significant milestone,” said Sheryl Tatum, head of school at Insight School of Oklahoma. “We set out to help students who have experienced setbacks get back on track toward their high school diploma, and this year’s graduates prove that with hard work and support, you can meet your full potential.”

Jesseca Lee Seals is the Class of 2017 valedictorian and Ruby Ann Cheatwood is the salutatorian. Seals will address her classmates, while Alan Eldridge, human resources manager for K12’s Central Region, will also deliver remarks. Additionally, ISOK teachers and staff will be in attendance to recognize the students’ achievements.

The Class of 2017 has been offered more than $70,000 in college scholarships. The graduates report that they have been accepted to a number of colleges and universities, including Brigham Young University, Oklahoma State University, Oral Roberts University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Moore Norman Tech Center, Kiamichi Technology Center, OSU Institute of Technology, Elite Academy, Rose State College, University of Central Oklahoma and Tulsa University. In addition, one graduate will be joining the U.S. Marines.

ISOK’s students have built strong relationships with their classmates during their time with the school. They interact with each other through their virtual classrooms, as well as discussion threads and instant messaging. In addition, ISOK offers many in-person activities throughout the school year, including field trips and dances. Graduation allows the students to celebrate their accomplishment together.

Media are welcome at the event. Details are as follows:
