Nevada Passport Academy Now Accepting Enrollment for 2017-18 School Year

Nevada Passport Academy (NVPA), a tuition-free online public high school for under-credited students, is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2017-18 school year. NVPA is designed to help students under the age of 21 who haven’t finished their high school education get back on track and earn a diploma.

NVPA combines online coursework with classroom work taught by certified teachers to provide a unique, individualized learning experience for each student. Flexible hours mean that school can be adapted to the student’s schedule, situation and life, allowing greater opportunities for the future.

“Once you begin at NVPA, you enroll in more than a school,” said Danny Diamond, head of school at Nevada Passport Academy. “Walking through our virtual doors, you will immediately see a school devoted to our students. No matter what’s gotten in your way, at NVPA we’ll work with you to create and individualized plan for both high school and post-high school success – to college, to a vocational program or straight to a career that fits who you are.”

NVPA offers classes in core academic subjects, including English, math, science and history. Students also have access to a comprehensive catalog of elective courses that include physical education, health, personal finance and world languages.

Class sizes are small and will vary based on student needs, as determined by regular assessments. Students who need more support in mastering a subject will receive that support while more advanced students are challenged to take their learning further. While the pace of the program is flexible, important benchmarks must be reached within certain timeframes, including state/school-required assessments every year and demonstration of academic gains each semester. Workshops, ongoing development and extra instructional tutoring are available to assist students in reaching these benchmarks.
