Ohio Virtual Academy 2017-2018 School Year Enrollment Now Open

Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA), an accredited, full-time online public community school, welcomes families with students in kindergarten through 12th grade to enroll for the 2017-2018 academic year – its 16th year of operation in the state. Open to all students who reside in Ohio, OHVA offers an individualized approach to learning combining online instruction, hands-on curriculum and the support of Ohio-licensed teachers to ensure every student receives an exceptional learning experience.

OHVA’s curriculum is designed to let students discover and nurture their own learning style in order to ensure they achieve mastery of topics and skills. The school offers a robust curriculum, including subjects such as language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as elective and Advanced Placement® courses for high school students. In addition, qualified high school students can earn college credits for select courses through the dual enrollment program.

“We provide our college- or career-minded students the opportunity to choose from a broad range of profession-focused courses in order to gain a competitive edge for the future, discover their path after high school, or explore a possible college major,” said Dr. Kristin Stewart, senior head of school at Ohio Virtual Academy. “We believe that this focus on the future, combined with our ability to encourage students to accelerate in the subjects at which they excel and, at the same time, give time for remediation in the subjects where it’s needed, contributes greatly to the success of our graduates.”

OHVA provides opportunities for advancement in STEM education and membership in various student clubs, including the OHVA chapter of the National Honor Society. Students can apply for the College Credit Plus program, which enables qualified students to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities. OHVA encourages students to take advantage of this program offered through the Ohio Department of Education, and works with students to make sure they know the options available to them. Dual-enrollment in career and tech programs is also an option for OHVA students.

OHVA is now accepting enrollments for the 2017-2018 school year. Parents are encouraged to attend one of the online information sessions hosted by the school each month. More information on OHVA and upcoming events can be found at http://ohva.k12.com/.
