Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy Holds Graduation Ceremony

Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy (OVCA), an online public charter school authorized by the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board, will hold an in-person graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 20, at 1 p.m. at the Choctaw High School Performing Arts Center.

Nearly 100 high school seniors will graduate from OVCA, which provides students statewide in kindergarten through 12th grade with a learning environment that works for them. The range of classes, extracurricular activities and supportive community give students of all abilities and backgrounds the chance to thrive. OVCA’s robust gifted and talented program challenges advanced learners, while the broad range of profession-focused courses provides students with a competitive edge.

Zechariah Walker is the valedictorian of the Class of 2017, and Zachary Johnson is the salutatorian. Joe Dorman, CEO of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy and former state representative, will deliver remarks to the graduating class, and OVCA teachers and staff will be in attendance to recognize the students’ achievements.

“Today is an exciting day, and we have so much to celebrate,” said Sheryl Tatum, head of school at Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy. “I am so proud of each of our graduates and can’t wait to see what’s next for them.”

OVCA graduates have reported that they will attend colleges and universities across the state, including the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City Community College and the University of Central Oklahoma.
