“Sean has a passion for improving education and a track record of success leading the digital content, curriculum, and technology platform businesses of several well-respected education companies,” said Stuart J. Udell, Chief Executive Officer of K12 Inc., Fuel Education’s parent company. “Fuel Education has one of industry’s largest catalogs of digital curriculum, and a staff with deep implementation expertise. Sean is the right person to further its mission of helping schools and districts meet the needs of more of their students through online and blended learning.”

Mr. Ryan comes to Fuel Education from McGraw-Hill Education where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales, Service and Platform for the School Education Group, leading a team of over 600 people and responsible for about $800 million in annual revenues. Before joining McGraw-Hill Education, Mr. Ryan was Senior Vice President of Sales with Campus Management Corporation, where he led the Project Management Office for their new platform development initiative. He also worked at Scantron Corporation as General Manager of the Education Group.

“As much as the education landscape has shifted over the span of my professional experience, the promise of education technology remains largely unrealized. In many ways, we are still just getting started,” Ryan said. “That is why I am thrilled to join FuelEd and the larger K12, Inc. team. Before us, in partnership with dedicated educators, we have the opportunity to make greater progress in less time at lower cost. Yet, the application of technology in the learning process is only meaningful if it empowers teachers to help their students achieve improved outcomes.”

Prior to his education industry experience, Mr. Ryan began his career in the U.S. Air Force as a military intelligence officer. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Soviet Studies and Russian from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Arizona, and a Master of Science in Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
