Washington Virtual Academy Invites Students to Enroll for 2017-18 School Year

Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA), an accredited online public school, is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2017-18 school year. An Alternative Learning Experience school program of the Omak School District, WAVA is open to full-time and part-time students in kindergarten through 12th grade throughout the state of Washington.

WAVA’s rigorous and engaging curriculum includes courses in English/language arts, math, science, history, world languages, art and music. Honors classes are available for high school students, who can also choose from a wide variety of career and technical electives. State-certified teachers provide instruction, guidance and support and interact with students and parents via email, web-based classrooms, online discussions, phone and face-to-face meetings.

WAVA also offers two programs that allow students to earn college credit while in high school: Running Start offers dual enrollment at local colleges, while Tech Prep offers college-level technology or business courses.

“At WAVA, we believe every student can flourish when given the opportunity and proper supports,” said Mark Christiano, head of school at Washington Virtual Academy. “When you enroll in WAVA, you enroll in more than a school – you join a vibrant learning community of dedicated teachers and parents committed to seeing each and every student achieve up to their potential.”

Students at every grade level are encouraged to participate in school-sponsored social activities, such as recognition assemblies, clubs, outings and student leadership opportunities.

WAVA will host a number of in-person and online information sessions throughout the state during the enrollment period. For more information and a list of upcoming events, please visit http://wava.k12.com.
