Axalta-Huajia Coatings, a joint venture between Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA), a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coatings, and the Huangshan Yongjia Group Co. Ltd., will partner with SHAZC Group to coat the sound barriers installed on Shanghai’s new Metro Line 17. Axalta’s premium powder coating Alesta® AR will protect the sound management structures along the Qingpu section of the line.
The Alesta AR500-UD series meets the most stringent exterior performance standards of the architectural industry, thanks to its architectural grade fluoropolymer powder coating technology. In addition, the AR500-UD series of products also feature environmentally responsible formulations and ultra-low VOC to offer excellent protection and high color accuracy as well as gloss-stability along with easy-care, easy-clean and anti-graffiti properties.

Though the project marks the first commercial application of Axalta’s Alesta AR powder coatings in China’s mass transit railway sector, Axalta has already made significant contributions to China’s rail transportation industry. For example, Axalta has provided its coating solutions to the high-speed trains of Harbin Dalian railway, and to trains in the extension section of Tianjin Urban Rail Line 1 and the Beijing Metro Line 15.
