Campine navigeert succesvol door een complex internationaal handelsklimaat

Campine NV, recyclagebedrijf voor metalen en producent van gespecialiseerde chemicaliën uit Beerse (België) en genoteerd op Euronext Brussels, slaagt erin om succesvol te navigeren door de effecten van een snel veranderend wereldwijd handelsklimaat.

Na de aankondiging van de Amerikaanse overheid op 2 april 2025 van nieuwe invoertarieven op Europese producten, werd het snel duidelijk dat Campine’s antimoontrioxide (ATO) is vrijgesteld van deze heffingen. Dit staat in schril contrast met de 15% importheffingen die nu van toepassing zijn op de meeste andere Europese exportproducten onder het recent afgesloten handelsakkoord tussen de EU en de VS. Dankzij deze vrijstelling kan Campine haar Amerikaanse klanten blijven bedienen zonder prijsnadeel. En dit terwijl sommige Aziatische concurrenten juist geconfronteerd worden met nieuwe handelsbeperkingen.

“We hebben onze ATO-productiecapaciteit in België met 50% uitgebreid om de wereldwijde vraag te ondersteunen,” zegt Hans Vercammen, Divisiedirecteur Specialty Chemicals. “Daardoor komt onze jaarlijkse productiecapaciteit op ongeveer 18.000 ton,” besluit hij.

“Campine betrekt antimoonmetaal van een breed gediversifieerd netwerk van leveranciers wereldwijd,” aldus CEO De Vos. “Nu meer niet-Chinese bronnen hun capaciteit hebben uitgebreid, is de beschikbaarheid van het metaal de afgelopen weken opnieuw aanzienlijk verbeterd. Dit heeft de prijzen gestabiliseerd rond de 60.000 USD/ton. Toch blijft er, ondanks een zwakkere vraag, wereldwijd een tekort aan ATO. Sommige klanten proberen immers hun verbruik tijdelijk te verlagen of ATO gedeeltelijk te vervangen door alternatieve producten.”

Campine is wereldwijd de grootste leverancier van antimoontrioxide geworden sinds de Chinese overheid in september 2024 exportbeperkingen instelde op antimoon en afgeleide producten.
