North America’s most technologically advanced incinerator will be unveiled in El Dorado, Ark., on Tuesday, Dec. 6 – the completion of a $120 million project that brings 120 jobs to the area.

Built by Clean Harbors, the Massachusetts-based leader in environmental, energy and industrial services, the expanded El Dorado facility is the first commercial incineration unit to open in the United States in 20 years. Government and business officials will gather in El Dorado to celebrate the conclusion of the two year build and its future economic opportunities for the state.

The state-of-the-art facility employs world-class air emissions control technologies and is engineered to safely and efficiently dispose of the most dangerous and toxic byproducts of manufacturing across a range of industries from cosmetics and pharmaceuticals to chemical, automotive and agriculture.

Stringent standards under the Federal Clean Air Act and the permitting complexities make construction of such incinerators extremely difficult for the builder. The expansion is the largest capital investment to a facility by Clean Harbors in the company’s 36-year history. The El Dorado facility will be the first and only American incinerator operating to not only meet, but exceed, regulatory requirements.

Construction of the facility infused approximately $21 million into the southern Arkansas economy. The operation, located on a 370-acre Clean Harbors site, will serve manufacturers across the United States and is expected to support the resurgence of U.S. manufacturing.
