CNH Industrial celebrates Manufacturing Day with industrial sector peers
CNH Industrial (NYSE: CNHI /MI: CNHI) joins the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and thousands of manufacturers across the United States in celebrating the seventh annual Manufacturing Day on October 5. The day, created to recognize the work of manufacturing employees across the nation, will highlight career options in modern manufacturing and inform young people about job opportunities in the industrial sector.
“CNH Industrial is proud to be part of the Manufacturing Day celebration and contribute to a changing perception of this important industry,” said Bill Baasch, CNH Industrial Vice President of Manufacturing, North America. “By employing the tenets of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), CNH Industrial has improved plant efficiencies, made strides in sustainable manufacturing processes and improved the working conditions of all of our plants.”
WCM is one of the global manufacturing industry’s highest standards for the integrated management of manufacturing plants and processes. It is a pillar-structured system based on continuous improvement, designed to eliminate waste and loss from the production process by identifying objectives such as zero injuries, zero defects, zero breakdowns and zero waste.
CNH Industrial’s manufacturing plants in the United States each observed Manufacturing Day in different ways, involving leadership, employees and the community to clearly demonstrate the diverse facets of modern manufacturing.
CNH Industrial’s Case IH and Case Construction Equipment plant in Fargo, North Dakota collaborated with the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Group and invited area high school students on a plant tour.
“We are excited to give area students the opportunity to see our operations,” said Adi Garg, CNH Industrial’s Fargo Plant manager. “It plants the seed early about advanced manufacturing, technology and the skills needed to work in our plant.”
The facility in Fargo manufactures 4WD Tractors and wheel loaders.
At CNH Industrial’s New Holland plant in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin, the Manufacturing Day program will recognize the plant’s International Standards Organization (ISO) 140001, 50001 and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 certifications, which act as a testament to the plant’s efforts in reducing environmental impact, as well as ensuring a safe and healthy workplace and using energy efficiently.
The St. Nazianz facility manufactures self-propelled sprayers and forage baggers.
Illinois Congressman Darin LaHood visited CNH Industrial’s Case IH plant in Goodfield, Illinois to mark Manufacturing Day. LaHood received a plant tour and met with employees at the facility. The Goodfield facility produces tillage and fertilizer equipment. It recently achieved Bronze Level certification in the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Program.
Employees at the Burlington, Iowa plant will be recognized for achieving two million work hours without a lost time incident. Other CNH Industrial facilities will celebrate Manufacturing Day by recognizing employee accomplishments.
There is a push in the broader manufacturing industry to raise the awareness of available jobs and skills needed for roles on the production line. Manufacturing Institute research shows some manufacturing job openings go unfilled due to a skills gap in the employment base.
