CSC and Smartlink Mobile Systems Enter Strategic Collaboration to Accelerate Healthcare Transformation to Value-Based Care

CSC (NYSE: CSC), a global leader in next-generation IT services and innovative healthcare solutions, and Smartlink Mobile Systems, a leading provider of chronic disease management solutions, today announced the signing of an agreement to jointly help physicians, extenders, and healthcare organizations accelerate their transformation to value-based care.

The collaboration is designed to support the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA), the bipartisan federal legislation that establishes new ways to pay physicians who care for Medicare beneficiaries. CSC recently launched its Chronic Care Management (CCM) service, an end-to-end service and technology solution, and today’s partnership will further support CSC’s portfolio of services and solutions in the population health market.

Under terms of the agreement, CSC will make an investment in Smartlink to provide next-generation technologies for value-based chronic care management. Details of the investment were not disclosed.

Smartlink provides a quality-driven chronic disease management solution that was built to address population health at scale by leveraging clinical support staff, and is fully compliant with Medicare’s CCM program requirements. The investment being announced today will enable CSC to fully integrate Smartlink products into CSC’s services and solutions for healthcare organizations of all sizes.

The CSC-Smartlink collaboration will help build an important foundation for physicians and healthcare organizations as they prepare for MACRA, providing the ability to connect patients, physicians and data to effectively integrate an all-inclusive workflow of care coordination, patient engagement and communication.

“We are delighted to partner with CSC to help healthcare providers transform their care delivery models in preparation for value-based payments,” said Dr. Siu Tong, chief executive officer, Smartlink. “CSC brings unparalleled global experience in care management, patient engagement, and quality-driven methodologies that are an enormous asset to healthcare organizations embarking on this journey.”

“Smartlink’s next generation technology, combined with CSC’s ability to deliver at scale, provides a powerful solution that supports the journey toward value-based care,” said Lisa Pettigrew, general manager, Americas healthcare & life sciences, CSC. “The benefits are clear for healthcare organizations and physicians: impacting quality measures, optimizing potential revenue, and improving patient outcomes.”

“The Smartlink relationship is part of our global focus on innovation alliances to support the transition to value-based care for our clients, and reinforces CSC’s commitment to healthcare,” said Andrea Fiumcelli, vice president and general manager, healthcare & life sciences, CSC.
