Cintas E.A.R.T.H. Campaign Turns Trash into Treasure for Ronald McDonald House Charities

Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) has collected more than 890 pounds of pull tabs for its seventh annual E.A.R.T.H. (Every Area Recycling Tabs Helps!) Campaign. Pull tabs are converted into funds for local chapters of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which provides a home-away-from-home for the families of children being treated at nearby hospitals. Since 2011, Cintas has generated nearly $4,200 for the campaign, which has helped fund more than 160 nights for families staying at local Houses.

“When enough people get involved, recycling something as small as a pull tab can have a big impact on the lives of others,” said Krista Jaeger, Manager of Sustainability, Cintas. “RMHC serves more than 7 million children and families each year. When corporate partners participate in programs such as these, it helps to reduce the cost burden for this incredibly important charity.”

Cintas’s E.A.R.T.H. Campaign was founded in 2011 to encourage employee-partners to contribute to RMHC’s own pull tab collection program, which has been in place since 1987. In this time, Cintas has donated approximately 4,750 pounds of pull tabs. This translates to a donation of about $4,200 for the non-profit when the average price of aluminum as a commodity is considered.

In a separate fundraising endeavor around Earth Day 2017, Cintas employee-partners recently raised an additional $4,300 for RMHC’s Adopt a Family program, which allows individuals and organizations to contribute to the well-being of families and children during a difficult time in their lives. This contribution will fund approximately 170 nights for families in need.

“Our ongoing E.A.R.T.H. campaign reminds employees and their families about the importance of recycling and giving back,” added Jaeger. “Next year, we hope to once again top the previous year’s totals to contribute even more to the RMHC chapters in the communities in which we operate.”
