OSHA Recognizes Cintas in Kansas City, KS with Highest Safety Designation

Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) today announced that two of its Kansas City locations – one Fire Protection and the other First Aid & Safety – received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The announcement took place during a special ceremony that was attended by City of Lenexa Mayor Michael Boehm.

VPP Star is OSHA’s highest recognition for the practice of and commitment to exemplary occupational safety and health. Voluntary Protection Program Star certification is earned by businesses who meet very rigorous safety requirements and can prove that the elimination of injuries is a key component of a company’s culture.

Approximately 45 employee-partners are employed at the Cintas Fire facility in Kansas City. The location officially began the VPP process in 2015 and received mentoring from safety leaders at Zoetis.

“This VPP distinction is truly a special achievement because of one word – voluntary,” said Tracy Barney, general manager for Cintas Fire in Kansas City. “The employee-partners at this location rose to the occasion and worked diligently to earn this certification.”

The Cintas First Aid and Safety location in Kansas City officially began the VPP process in 2015, and also received mentorship from Zoetis. Approximately 53 employee-partners are employed at the facility.

“Different from many achievements in our industry, VPP distinction is not tied to compensation or job security,” said Bobby Hunzicker, general manager for Cintas First Aid and Safety in Kansas City. “This distinction was earned through our employee-partners’ desire to be recognized as a world-class safety operation.”

Since 2011, a total of 81 Cintas facilities have been recognized under the VPP program. Cintas is currently ranked second in the entire nation for companies with VPP sites.

Cintas Corporation has approximately 250 facilities throughout the world actively pursuing VPP recognition by OSHA or the equivalent under a similar certifying body. This includes operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Honduras.
