Cyanotech® Corporation Earns Halal Certification for BioAstin® Hawaiian Astaxanthin® Raw Material and Vegan Soft Gels

Cyanotech® Corporation, (Nasdaq Capital Market: CYAN), is proud to announce that its bulk raw material, BioAstin® SCE 5 and vegan BioAstin soft gels, have received halal certification from the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA). BioAstin® Hawaiian Astaxanthin® is a potent natural antioxidant that provides support for recovery after exercise, joint, skin, and eye health.* BioAstin is derived from natural microalgae, Haematococcus pluvialis, that is cultivated, grown, and processed on the Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaii.

“We are very excited about this certification as it allows us to offer our astaxanthin supply to growing markets in Southeast Asia and beyond,” said Dr. Gerald Cysewski, CEO and founder of Cyanotech Corporation. “Cyanotech’s top priority is to provide the highest quality microalgae products, and offering halal certified SCE 5 and vegan soft gels, along with halal certified spirulina products, proves that commitment.”

Cyanotech’s halal certification for SCE 5, vegan soft gels, and its Hawaiian Spirulina is issued by the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America. Halal certifications are required for food consumption for halal consumers, which include 1.4 billion Muslims and other consumers who choose to eat halal for health benefits. IFANCA are experts in reviewing the products, the ingredients, the preparation and processing, and the hygiene and sanitation procedures for halal certification.

BioAstin SCE 5 and vegan soft gels are certified halal, vegan and gluten-free. BioAstin SCE5 is also Non-GMO Project Verified. BioAstin is the first brand to receive the Natural Algae Astaxanthin Association (NAXA) Verification Seal. BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin continues to be the #1finished goods brand of astaxanthin in the US.

Cyanotech was founded in 1984 by Dr. Cysewski, who chose the pristine Kona Coast of Hawaii due to the pure, unpolluted, clean growing location and access to deep ocean water from a depth of 2000 feet. Our facility is located in a BioSecure zone, free of all pesticides and herbicides.
