Discover Recognized as a 2018 Best Place to Work in IT

Discover has been selected by IDG’s Computerworld as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in IT. This marks the 15th year the company has been recognized as a best place to work for information technology professionals.

Computerworld ranks the top 100 workplaces for IT professionals by conducting extensive research of benefits offered by small, midsize and large organizations. Discover ranked No. 13 among large organizations on this year’s list, rising from 2017’s ranking in which the company placed No. 31. Factors like benefits, career development opportunities, training and retention were used to determine the rankings.

“What makes Discover a great place to work is driven by three factors: amazing benefits and programs, our culture, and the fact that we’re a technology-driven company,” said Glenn Schneider, executive vice president and chief information officer at Discover. “Our organization continually offers new benefits like The Discover College Commitment program which enhances our culture of openness and inclusion. This collaborative environment also enables our technology team to be laser-focused on providing a rewarding experience for our customers through innovative products and services while leveraging next generation technologies.”

“Over the past couple of years, we've seen an already tight market for tech talent get even tighter,” said Computerworld executive editor Ken Mingis. “Computerworld's 2018 Best Places to Work in IT list illustrates that the companies that offer the best working environments aren't satisfied with rolling out one or two initiatives. They seek an edge in the talent marketplace through a combination of good salaries, great benefits, ready access to training, and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies. They recognize that the top tech talent can easily move to the organization that respects them best, and they are determined to be that organization.”

Discover provides a competitive benefits package including tuition reimbursement, maternity and paternity leave, generous PTO package, commuter benefits, and a flexible work environment. Through its new program, The Discover College Commitment, the company eligible employees have the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree at no cost to select universities and programs on day one of employment. The company also has nine Employee Resource Groups, which provides tools and resources to help employees connect, build communities at work, and foster an inclusive environment.
