: a key industrial partner for Leonardo in the UK for its IASI-NG Space programme

Bollène, October 1, 2019 – 07:00am (CET) – (Euronext Paris FR0000072373 – Reuters: EGID.PA – Bloomberg : GID) was very proud to be invited to Leonardo’s Southampton facility as a key industrial partner following the delivery of the first package for IASI-NG (Infra-red Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer – New Generation).

In recent years, space cooperation between the UK and France has gone from strength to strength, notably in the fields of Earth observation and climate action. 

The Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer - New Generation (IASI-NG) programme, which is a partnership between Leonardo, Airbus Defence & Space, the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales and the UK Space Agency, will measure temperature and water vapour profiles and gas concentration in the Earth’s atmosphere, with its first flight scheduled for 2022 aboard the European satellite MetOp-SG-A.

Leonardo is a historical customer and partner of Egide for high performance image sensing applications. Egide was chosen for the IASI programme for its space heritage and reputation for the quality of its hermetic ceramic and metal packages in this domain.

Egide’s dedicated Space solutions also cover the qualification of high-performance power dissipation materials and specific plating processes for parts used in satellites and launchers.
