PHOTO RELEASE--Huntington Ingalls Industries Vice President Named to Palm Springs Air Museum’s Aviation Hall of Fame

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Feb. 19, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that Mark Fox, corporate vice president of customer affairs, was inducted into the Palm Springs Air Museum’s “Aviation Hall of Fame” at the museum’s annual gala in Palm Springs, Calif., last Friday.

“The HII family could not be more proud of Mark for receiving this honor,” said Mitch Waldman, HII’s executive vice president, government and customer relations. “The qualities we most admire in him, his determination and dedication, were most certainly developed and honed during his time of service.”

Fox graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1978 and became a naval aviator in 1980. Over the course of his military career, he flew more than 100 combat sorties and logged more than 4,900 flight hours and 1,348 arrested landings on 15 different aircraft carriers. His combat awards include the Silver Star and Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V.”

Fox commanded U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet, Carrier Strike Group 10 aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), Carrier Air Wing 2 aboard USS Constellation (CV 64) and Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 81 aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65). His other command and executive leadership assignments included service as deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans and strategy; commander, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center; and deputy assistant to the President and director, White House Military Office, where he was responsible for overseeing all military support to the President. He was the first commander of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 122, the Navy’s first FA-18E/F Super Hornet squadron. Most recently, he served as deputy commander at U.S. Central Command.

He joined HII in 2016 following his retirement from the Navy as a vice admiral.
