Hamilton Lane Again Partners with Girls Who Invest as Sponsor and Host of Summer Interns

The Partnership Further Demonstrates the Firm’s Commitment to the Advancement of Women in the Private Markets

BALA CYNWYD, Pa., July 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hamilton Lane (NASDAQ:HLNE) today announced a partnership for the second consecutive year with Girls Who Invest, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in portfolio management and executive leadership in the asset management industry.

Hamilton Lane continues to support Girls Who Invest through financial sponsorship and by hosting two undergraduate interns. Following the success of last year’s partnership, Hamilton Lane’s Diversity & Inclusion Council and Fund Investment Team once again spearheaded the program, during which the undergraduate students will work on the firm’s Fund Investment Team for the summer, beginning today.

Girls Who Invest aims to see 30 percent of the world's investable capital managed by women by 2030. To help meet this goal, the organization provides internship and career training programs for high potential female scholars. Through the program, Girls Who Invest helps promising female college students from diverse backgrounds learn core investment concepts through an intensive educational program, meet industry luminaries, and intern at leading asset management firms. In its first two years of operation, Girls Who Invest has empowered 357 young women, sending a total of 90 undergraduates through their flagship 10-week Summer Intensive Programs.

“Our view is that a rigorous education, hands-on experience and a supportive community are important building blocks to enabling and encouraging more women to participate in the private markets, and organizations like Girls Who Invest are helping to move the needle,” said Andrea Kramer, Global Head of Fund Investments at Hamilton Lane.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Girls Who Invest again this summer,” said Radhika Cobb, Vice President on the Real Assets team at Hamilton Lane. “Participating in the program last year really felt synergistic – the energy and enthusiasm the students bring is contagious.”

Hamilton Lane continues to demonstrate its support of diversity and inclusion initiatives at the firm itself, as well as throughout the broader financial services industry and beyond. In just the last few months, the firm has hosted, collaborated or contributed to a number of initiatives whose mission is to educate or advance women, including: Hamilton Lane’s second annual ; a Future Leaders event co-hosted by Hamilton Lane’s London team; the firm’s ongoing Diversity & Inclusion Council Speaker Series; and the Girls Who Invest summer program partnership and other mentoring opportunities.

“The partnerships we forge with leading asset management firms like Hamilton Lane are invaluable to the success of our program and the future careers of our scholars. We are deeply appreciative as we work to increase the diversity of the pipeline of our industry’s future leaders,” said Janet Cowell, CEO of Girls Who Invest.

“We believe that more diversity – of gender, experience, ethnicity, background, etc. – can ultimately better serve investors,” said Mario Giannini, CEO of Hamilton Lane. “We’ve seen that there is a real opportunity to engage with and educate young women about the private markets, with the aim of helping to cultivate a more diverse asset class overall. We’re glad to be working with Girls Who Invest again this year.”
