HilltopSecurities Public Finance Clients Win Regional Deal of the Year Awards

Hilltop Securities Inc. today announced that The Bond Buyer awarded two of the firm’s public finance clients with regional Deal of the Year Awards and named one of the firm’s bankers among its list of trailblazing women in public finance.

“We are very fortunate to work with and assist our clients in developing financial plans that help them achieve their goals,” said HilltopSecurities Vice Chairman, Head of Public Finance David Medanich. “It is very gratifying to be part of the teams that helped successfully complete these projects.”

HilltopSecurities served as financial advisor to the Fort Worth Transportation Authority who won the Southwest Regional Deal of the Year for a $325 million private placement to fund a commuter rail line. The firm also served as financial advisor to the City of Cambridge, Mass., who won the Non-Traditional Financing Deal of the Year for a $2 million issuance of minibonds to fund city-wide municipal and school projects. HilltopSecurities Regional Managing Director Laura Alexander, Director Ryan Chiriboga and Associate William Bermudez are financial advisors to the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, and Managing Director Cinder McNerney and Directors Susan Kendall and Kristy Tofuri are financial advisors to the City of Cambridge.

The Bond Buyer also named Ms. Kendall as one of its 2017 Trailblazing Women in Public Finance in the top private sector leader’s category. Kendall’s recognition is a part of the publication’s annual presentation of the Freda Johnson Award, which “honors leading women in public and private sector finance positions,” according to The Bond Buyer. Earlier this year, the publication recognized another HilltopSecurities’ banker, Director Joel Tindal, as one of the municipal bond industry’s 28 Rising Stars in 2017.

For 16 years, The Bond Buyer’s Deal of the Year Awards have recognized issuers for their innovative transactions in the municipal finance space. Awardees are nominated by their peers, and the publication’s editorial team selects five regional winners who “reflect the market’s national scope,” according to The Bond Buyer, as well as three additional winners in special categories. In total, HilltopSecurities has participated in 20 transactions that have been included in the publication’s Deal of the Year program, and two of the firm’s bankers have been included in their Rising Stars program.
