New-build data centre for Green in Lupfig | Facade for Heidekreis Clinic in Bad Fallingbostel | New “Clinic 2” building, University Hospital Basel | Imst-Haiming hydropower plant | Attractive transport infrastructure projects in Switzerland | Contracts worth over CHF 150 million in total

Glattpark (Opfikon), 27 March, 2025 – Implenia has won several attractive contracts in the data centre, healthcare, energy and transport infrastructure sectors in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The new projects all fit with the Group’s strategic focus on large and demanding projects, and with its specialisation in high-demand sectors. The contracts are worth more than CHF 150 million in total to Implenia.

Another data centre for Green on the Zurich-West Metro Campus in Lupfig
Green, the leading Swiss data centre provider, has commissioned Implenia as general contractor for shell and core construction of a new high-performance data centre: 5,526 m2 of new data centre floorspace is being built at the company’s headquarters in Lupfig. Construction started at the beginning of January, and the data centre is scheduled to start operations in 2026. Implenia’s specialist team is bringing its many years of experience and comprehensive expertise in data centre construction to the project. The company has already built two data centres and an office building for Green in Dielsdorf, where yet another data center is currently under construction. This means Implenia will have built seven data centres in the Zurich area. It sees further major growth potential in this market.

Innovative and sustainable facade for the Heidekreis Clinic in Bad Fallingbostel, Germany
Implenia Facade Technology combines innovation and design to develop sustainable, tailor-made facade solutions. A good example is the new Heidekreis Clinic in Bad Fallingbostel in the Lüneburger Heide region of Lower Saxony, northwestern Germany. With floorspace of around 23,000 m², the planned clinic will provide 175 single and 170 double rooms. Three cubic structures housing the somatics department and a separate building for psychiatry will create a harmonious, central forecourt. Construction began in 2024, and completion is scheduled for the end of 2028.
Implenia Facade Technology is planning a high-quality facade, which will be produced using a variety of materials and innovative systems, giving the new building a modern and attractive appearance. Engineered facades are being combined with innovative sliding shutters to meet the highest standards of sustainability and aesthetics in this challenging and complex project.

“Clinic 2” new-build, University Hospital Basel
The USB K2 joint venture, in which Implenia has a 50% share, has been awarded the contract for the Master Builder work for the new “Clinic 2” by University Hospital Basel. The project is scheduled for completion in 2030. The new-build on the Health Campus is designed to optimise hospital procedures, ensure protection against earthquake and fire, and enhance convenience for patients.

Alliance contract for the main construction lot of Imst-Haiming hydropower plant, Austria
TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft AG has signed an alliance contract for the main construction lot of the Imst-Haiming hydropower plant with Swietelsky Tunnelbau GmbH, Ing. Hans Bodner Bau GesmbH & Co KG and Implenia.  Principal construction for the power plant on the river Inn includes the creation of a 14 km long waterway with surge tank and tailrace, chambers with inlet and outlet pipes, and the tailwater reservoir. The contract was signed following an early contractor involvement (ECI) phase, during which planning was optimised and options investigated in collaboration with the potential partners. As well as strengthening relations between the partners very early on in the process, this led to a detailed and robust project estimation.

Attractive transport infrastructure projects in German and French-speaking part of Switzerland
Canton Geneva and the municipality of Le Grand-Saconnex (OCGC/Commune du Grand-Saconnex/SIG) have commissioned a joint venture between Implenia (40%) and Piasio (60%) to build a new tram line along the Route de Ferney between the Route des Morillons and the Route François-Peyrot in the commune of Le Grand-Saconnex. Work is scheduled to begin in autumn 2025 and will take about two-and-a-half years. Implenia has won two further projects that will help modernise and expand Switzerland’s transport infrastructure: the renovation of the Hagenholz tunnel at Zurich airport on behalf of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), and the redesign of the Versoix junction with the Route des Romelles in Bellevue municipality, Canton Geneva on behalf of FEDRO.
