IPG Photonics Honored with Multiple Awards in 2019 Lightwave Innovation Reviews Program

OXFORD, Mass., March 04, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (NASDAQ: IPGP) today announced that it was recognized as an honoree and multi-award winner in the 2019 Lightwave Innovation Reviews program.

Presented annually by Lightwave, the Lightwave Innovation Reviews program distinguishes top products and solutions available within the optical networking industry as determined by a distinguished panel of industry expert judges. Judges include industry executives and analysts from a wide variety of service providers, technology developers, industry analysts and journalists. “On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate our honorees,” said Lightwave Group Publisher Alan Bergstein. “This prestigious program allows Lightwave to celebrate and recognize the most innovative products and solutions in the optical networking industry. Our 2019 Honorees are an outstanding example of companies who are making an impact.”

IPG Photonics has been recognized for the company’s OTN tunable SFP+ “System-in-module” developed by its business unit Menara Networks. Based on a proprietary high speed integrated circuit, the OTN Tunable SFP+ is a unique industry tunable DWDM pluggable transceiver that integrates Forward Error Correction (FEC) and advanced monitoring capabilities offering a true WDM transponder replacement for DWDM access, metro and long haul networks. IPG was also recognized for the company’s 200G Coherent CFP2-DCO module offering complete 100G and 200G coherent transmission in a small form-factor pluggable format.

“The 2019 Lightwave Innovation awards recognize IPG’s multi-year efforts to build truly innovative DWDM solutions, innovative system architecture and advanced optics,” said Dr. George BuAbbud, IPG Photonics Vice President of Telecommunications Products. “IPG Photonics is a firm believer that the only way to address the insatiable traffic growth cost effectively is with innovative, network simplifying solutions such as our 'system-in-modules' approach. The elite score awarded by the judges further highlights the industry’s realization of this fact, and the need for such DWDM products to enable network functions virtualization (NFV) as a mean to simplify operations and reduce cost.”

The Innovation Reviews are judged based on the following criteria:

  • Originality;
  • Innovation;
  • Positive impact on the customer;
  • How well it addresses a new or existing requirement;
  • Novelty of approach;
  • Cost-effectiveness.

IPG Photonics is showcasing its Menara Networks brand of full-line “System-in-module” DWDM transceivers at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference March 5-7 at the San Diego Convention Center. This showcase will also include the Atlas line of OTN 10G pluggables and the Hytham line of 100G/200G digital coherent modules.
