New Ethernet Over Coax Extender with PoE+ from Transition Networks Simplifies Analog to IP Surveillance System Upgrades

Transition Networks, Inc., a leading provider of innovative, high- value data network integration solutions, today announced immediate availability of its Ethernet Over Coax Extender with PoE+, which reduces cost and accelerates time to service by utilizing existing coax cabling infrastructure to upgrade from analog to IP-based surveillance cameras or connect other IP devices to the Ethernet network.

The new extender conforms to the IEEE 802.3 af/at standard for compliance with other PoE / PoE+ powered devices, allowing edge devices to be quickly and easily located in places where power was previously not available and helping to avoid unnecessary and costly electrical installations.

The Ethernet Over Coax Extenders are used in pairs, with a local (EOCPSE4020-110) and remote (EOCPD4020-110) device placed at opposite ends of a 75-ohm coax cable and is capable of delivering a full 25 Watts of power to the edge device at near Gigabit speed.

It is one of the most flexible products on the market, accepting a standard CATx copper, single mode or multi-mode fiber Ethernet input. A web GUI allows simple and secure access for configuration of both the local and remote devices through a single IP address. Power saving, power monitoring, and the auto power reset (APR) feature, which allows the user to reset a non-responsive camera or other device without dispatching a technician to the remote location, provide additional value and reduce operating expense.

“Security conscious organizations are upgrading their analog surveillance cameras to get better video quality, remote monitoring and other benefits of IP systems,” said Tony LeFebvre, Director of Product Management for Transition Networks. “Typical upgrades are limited to CATx cable runs of 100 meters each, but these new extenders allow you to reach beyond that 100 meter Ethernet cable limit and eliminate the difficulties and cost of installing new cable runs or additional power outlets in hard to reach areas. This accelerates time to service and is a more cost-effective alternative to new cable runs.”

Availability

The Ethernet Over Coax with PoE+ EOCPSE4020-110 local unit and the EOCPD4020-110 remote unit are now available through Transition Networks’ valued resellers. More information is available on Transition Networks’ website.
