NEW YORK, Sept. 12, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of August 31, 2023, short interest in 3,267 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 10,277,162,921 shares compared with 10,165,210,409 shares in 3,276 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of August 15, 2023. The end of August short interest represents 3.40 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 2.70 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 1,771 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 1,740,359,933 shares at the end of the settlement date of August 31, 2023 compared with 2,056,890,999 shares in 1,769 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents a 1.05 day average daily volume; the previous reporting period’s figure was 1.35.
In summary, short interest in all 5,038 Nasdaq® securities totaled 12,017,522,854 shares at the August 31, 2023 settlement date, compared with 5,045 issues and 12,222,101,408 shares at the end of the previous reporting period.
