RRD Recognized By IDG’s CIO As A CIO 100 Award Winner

R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (RRD) (NYSE:RRD) (the “Company”), a leading global provider of multichannel solutions for marketing and business communications, today announced it has received the 2017 CIO 100 Award from IDG's CIO. The 30th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).

"Technology innovation and business value have always been at the heart of our CIO 100 awards, which honor the IT organizations thriving on the front lines of the digital revolution," said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief, CIO Events. "This year's winning companies are outstanding examples of how IT leadership, business collaboration and customer engagement are shaping the future."

Recipients of this year's CIO 100 Award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of external judges (many of them former CIOs) reviewed the applications in depth, looking for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' evaluations and selected the final 100.

RRD was recognized for developing a cognitive computing solution that leverages predictive analytics and advanced data management solutions. The model addresses a critical and growing need to extract meaningful information from vast data sources, and to translate that information into actions that are results-driven and effective.

“Innovation is integral to our history, and as a 150-year-old company, we understand the importance of reinvention in a rapidly changing communications environment. Technology is central to our innovation and we will continue to expand our IT capabilities to better serve our customers, empower our employees, and provide integrated multi-channel solutions that enable the future of innovative communications,” said Ken O’Brien, EVP and CIO of RRD. “We are incredibly proud to receive this CIO 100 Honor and congratulate our team members for this important recognition.”

RRD and other winning companies will be recognized at The CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held August 16th, at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Coverage of the 2017 CIO 100 Awards will be available online at CIO.com on August 16, 2017 and in the July/August issue of CIO's digital magazine.
