SAIC to Participate in National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

More than 300 children are expected to fill Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) locations across the country for national Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day on April 26. For the third consecutive year, SAIC is proud to sponsor this event, which gives children some insight into their parent’s workday.

This year’s theme is SERVICE FORCE: Agents of “Positive” Change! In accordance with this theme, the children will participate in activities throughout the day, including:

  • The Marshmallow Challenge: Teams will test their engineering skills to build a free-standing structure out of raw spaghetti, tape, string, and one marshmallow.
  • Squishy Circuits®: A hands-on method to teach the basics of electrical circuits using homemade conductive and insulating play dough.
  • Food Drive: Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, will raise awareness of childhood hunger and food insecurity. The children will donate items that will eventually fill weekend backpacks to ensure that children who receive free or reduced-price meals through their schools are fed on the weekends.

“We are excited to participate in and sponsor Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work day again this year. We are proud of our employees’ work and we are honored to have their children as our guests,” said SAIC CEO Tony Moraco. “Opening our doors to our employees’ children embodies our company values and exposes young minds to science, technology, engineering, and math, as well as a corporate environment. We hope to inspire the next generation to take the reins and continue in their parents’ footsteps.”

The Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation is dedicated to developing innovative strategies and research-based activities in informal educational programs that empower girls and boys in all sectors of society to confront and overcome societal messages about youth so that they may reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives. Through its leadership, expertise, and collaborations, the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation advocates for changes in social policy and public awareness on behalf of youth.
