Schindler joins RE100 global initiative to use 100% renewable energy

02.11.2021 / 07:30

Schindler has joined RE100, the global environmental initiative led by the Climate Group in partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which brings together the world's most influential companies leading the transition to 100% renewable electricity.

"Joining the RE100 is more factual evidence of our deep-rooted commitment to sustainability," said Thomas Oetterli, Schindler's CEO. "This commitment extends beyond the ESG targets we set ourselves: it's genuinely embedded in our business. Our smart mobility solutions contribute to shaping better cities - ones that are more livable and inclusive."

Joining RE100 underscores Schindler's engagement in a full transition to renewable electricity by 2025, in addition to the recently announced science-based emissions reduction targets. It is a clear signal of the Group's determination to help tackle the emergency caused by the climate crisis. Schindler has also committed to a 'no waste to landfill' objective across all its sites globally by 2023.

"We are delighted to welcome Schindler Group to RE100," said Sam Kimmins, Head of RE100 at Climate Group. "By committing to 100% renewable electricity by 2025, Schindler joins over 300 of the world's leading businesses committed to driving market change. This sends a powerful message that renewable electricity makes good business sense, and we encourage others to follow."
