Teledyne API, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY), announced today a new ambient air quality monitoring instrument, the Model T640 PM Mass Monitor, that measures the concentration of fine particulate matter below 2.5 microns in diameter (PM2.5) continuously, in real-time.
Fine airborne particles are known to be hazardous to human health and are one of the main causes of reduced visibility or haze in many parts of the United States and elsewhere in the world. PM2.5 is an important measure of particulate pollution that is regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and by equivalent government agencies around the world. Teledyne API’s T640 instrument has achieved regulatory approval from the U.S. EPA, and Teledyne is actively pursuing a number of international certifications, including for growing markets in China and India, where public awareness of poor air quality continues to gain attention.
