AS Tallinna Sadam 2018 Q3 passenger and cargo flows
In 2018 Q3 5.5 million tonnes of cargo and 3.5 million passengers passed through the harbours of Tallinna Sadam. Compared to the same period of previous year the cargo volume increased 27.5%, mainly due to liquid bulk. The growth of the number of passengers accelerated in the summer period, increasing by 2.2%. There were 2135 ship calls in 2018 Q3.
According to Valdo Kalm, Chairman of the Management Board of Tallinna Sadam, such a large increase in liquid bulk volume in comparison of the third quarters is rather exceptional and mainly results from the very low base level of the previous year. "In the following periods, we do not predict the growth of liquid bulk on this scale, rather we see the stabilization of cargo flows," Kalm explained.
In 2018 9 months the cargo volume of Tallinna Sadam totaled 15.6 million tons, increasing by 9.3% compared to 9 months cargo volume of the previous year. In the 9 months of 2018 8.3 million passengers visited the harbours of Tallinna Sadam, which is 1.0% more than in the comparable period of 2017.
