Webb County, Texas, Goes Live with Tyler Technologies’ Odyssey Court Management System

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced today that Webb County, Texas, has gone live with Tyler’s Odyssey® court case management system. The case management software combines advanced functionality with ease-of-use that will allow the county to better track all aspects of court management. In addition, the public defender’s office is live with Odyssey Attorney Manager, and the pretrial services division is live with Odyssey Supervision, Case Manager and Jail Manager.

By using multiple Odyssey solutions within its software suite, the various departments of the county will be able to seamlessly communicate case information with one another. Improvements for the county include electronic filing, electronic citations, and an upcoming interface for the district attorney’s office. The implementation has allowed the district clerk’s office in Webb County to digitize financial assessments and collections, which were previously all tracked on paper. This transition to a paperless system has also automated state reporting and increased overall accuracy while also saving the county time and money.

“The enhancements provided by Odyssey allow the court system in Webb County to share information across departments and divisions, resulting in staff having increased access to data and more efficient processes,” said Hon. Joe Lopez, Texas State District Judge for the 49th Judicial District. “Tyler’s experienced team has also helped make the implementation process run as smoothly as possible for both county employees and citizens.”

In total, more than 600 public servants will utilize the software in Webb County including the offices of the district and county clerks, the jail, six JP courts, the District and County courts, Pretrial Services and the Public Defender. Within the JP courts, the department of public safety citation integration with Odyssey eliminated a large amount of manual data entry. Using Odyssey to electronically share information between the court and all these agencies, and especially the jail, helps make all groups more efficient, reduces errors, and increases the speed at which justice is served.

“Tyler is delighted to bring another client live with an efficient and transparent integrated justice system that helps connect their community,” said Bruce Graham, president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Webb County as they reduce costs with a fully unified solution.”

Tyler’s Odyssey solution is being used successfully in more than 900 counties across 24 states, covering more than 100 million people. Laredo, Texas, is the county seat, which has a population of 250,000. It is also one of the oldest border crossing points along the U.S.-Mexico border.
