G&K Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: GK), a leading provider of branded uniform and facility services programs, joined with the Windsor Spitfires team from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) last night to sponsor the team’s annual “Stick it to Cancer” charity event. The event drew fans from the Windsor community who cheered on the Spitfires, outfitted in custom pink jerseys and skate laces, as they took on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

This was the sixth year that G&K Services has partnered with the Spitfires in the fight against breast cancer. G&K sold Spitfires branded pink toques, t-shirts, and pink mini hockey sticks at the event, with all proceeds being donated to the Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation, a charity that raises funds to support local cancer research and provide short-term assistance to cancer patients in the Windsor community. In addition, the pink jerseys that the Spitfires wore during the game will be auctioned off in support of the Windsor Spitfires Foundation and breast cancer awareness.

In addition to the event in Windsor, each October G&K Services sponsors the annual Workforce for a Cure campaign, which encourages G&K customers to trade-in their everyday work wear for pink ribbon breast cancer awareness work apparel. A portion of the purchase price is donated to the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation.
