SPORTTOTAL AG: sporttotal cooperating with the "Southwest" football regional association

- Agreement concluded with a seven-year term

- Matches of eight clubs of the Rhineland-Pfalz/Saar upper league already streamed in the successful pilot phase since the 2017/18 season

- sporttotal now cooperating with four of five DFB regional associations

 

Cologne, January 14, 2020. The "Southwest" football regional association and sporttotal.tv gmbh, one of Germany's largest multi-sport-streaming platforms and a 100 percent subsidiary of SPORTTOTAL AG, have forged an extensive partnership geared to establishing the medialization and enhanced visibility of amateur football. Initially the contract will extend up to mid 2027. With this agreement now in place, sporttotal is currently cooperating with four of the five major regional associations of DFB, the German Football Association.

The "Southwest" regional football association represents the union of the Federal State football associations "Southwest Germany", "Rhineland" and "Saarland". The three Federal State associations comprise 2,431 clubs with a total of 11,438 teams and some 510,535 members.

Successful pilot phase concluded with eight clubs
As part of the pilot phase launched in the 2017/18 season, eight clubs of the Rhineland -Palatinate/Saar upper league were equipped with a camera system, resulting in more than 150 matches being streamed on sporttotal. In addition to the second team of the four-times German champion, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, this includes the following football clubs: FV Engers 07, Eisbachtaler Sportfreunde Heilberscheid, TuS Mechtersheim, BFV Hassia Bingen, FV Dudenhofen, FC Hertha Wiesbach and TSG Pfeddersheim. Additional clubs are set to join.

New perspectives for amateur football
Dr. Hans-Dieter Drewitz, President of the "Südwest" regional football asscoation went on to underline: "Now that the pilot phase has been successfuully concluded we know that the sporttotal platform provides new perspectives for amateur football in the 'Southwest' regional football association area. We are eagerly looking forward to our joint future."
