Holland Professional Driver Paul Wahlster Named As a Finalist for the ATA Road Team

HOLLAND, Mich., Nov. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Holland professional driver Paul Wahlster is a finalist in the American Trucking Associations (ATA) selection of Captains for the 2019-2020 America’s Road Team.

Drivers chosen as Captains for America’s Road Team are the “best of the best” with superior safety records. America’s Road Team Captains educate the public about sharing the highway, safe driving practices and the trucking industry. Captains must be excellent communicators as well as exceedingly knowledgeable about safety within the industry.

“Safety is a number one priority for our professional drivers here at Holland. Paul has proven that he is a safety leader. He has been a skilled driver mentor for new hires and does his best to make safety a number one priority for every driver he trains. His focus is on safety and communication. He holds himself to the highest standards. We congratulate him for this achievement and look forward to his continuing safety leadership,” said Holland President Scott Ware.

Wahlster is one of thirty-four professional drivers who will now move to the final round being held January 27-30, 2019 in Arlington, Va. A panel of evaluators will judge the contenders on their knowledge of the trucking industry, dedication to safety, ability to communicate the industry’s message and overall safe driving record.

Paul Wahlster is a linehaul driver at the Holland Joliet, IL service center. He has been a professional driver for over 35 years. He has been employed by Holland for 28 of those years. Wahlster has driven nearly an accumulated three million miles during his total driving career. He has been presented with the one- and two-million mile safe driving awards and is a driver mentor at Holland.

America’s Road Team was created in 1986 by the ATA to represent the trucking industry and is sponsored by Volvo Trucks. Captains, with support from their companies, dedicate a few days each month to attend industry events, speak at schools or meet policymakers on behalf of the trucking industry.
