QEWC, the largest player in Qatar
Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) is a public company, listed on Qatar Exchange (QE) since May 1998. It is the first private sector company and the second largest one in the field of power generation and water desalination in the MENA region. The largest electricity and water player in Qatar was established in July 1990 in Doha and in May 2000 became the major generator of electricity and producer of water in Qatar as result of the government’s decision to privatize the Qatari electricity sector to help meet growing demand.
