POLITICS:
Ministry team (16 positions) is slowly getting formed with key positions being: it seems SMC will control Ministry of Economic development and Technology as well as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAB Ministry of Infrastructure, Desus Defense Ministry, Lista M. Šarca Finance Ministry and Ministry of Health, Social Democrats Ministry of Justice etc.
Given this segmentation and names circulating around, it seems a hefty part of the team will be the same as in Cerar coalition (sometimes only with a switch of ministry seats), despite Šarec election promises he wants new names and despite the fact Cerar resigned in Spring due to disagreements within its coalition.
Also given the above mentioned segmentation it’s a good bet that economic dynamic regarding personnel issues in Slovene state companies and economic policies will remain similar to those of Cerar coalition, as SMC has the upper ground. SAB has also succeeded in grabbing an important position, especially as second railway tier project Koper-DivaÄa will be developing. So in part we can expect a predictable continuation of current dynamic / policy.
True, the nature of minority government, as it needs support from The Left for legislature to pass parliament, this government will be more left orientated in economic policies vs Cerar coalition.
We still believe this fragmented government will not make it all of the four years; however it’s also true that several breaches of election promises already imply there is a lot of common will for compromises in order to cling on to government seats.
