SA food sector - Outlook 2019 - Are we there yet?

We remain pessimistic about SA growth in 2019. However, greater policy certainty
post elections could lead to consumer confidence and a return in spending in the
second half of the year. Higher investment and signs of fiscal discipline will also
contribute to SA economic growth. The ZAR should strengthen with SA economic
growth which will contain raw material cost inflation. SA food producer earnings
growth can improve macro conditions. As such, we believe that SA food producer
valuations are attractive relative to the overall market, SA retailers and global peers
