African Markets Review 01 19 2021

  • In Morocco, CMR improved the performance of its financial portfolio to 5.27% in 2020 compared to 3.73% in 2016, according to the business press;
  • In Tunisia, STIP increases its turnover by 16% in 2020 to TND 72m;
  • In Egypt, Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry expressed the country’s keenness to commence with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), whose agreement came into effect at the beginning of January;
  • A negative performance was recorded in the majority of the covered African markets except for the Casablanca Stock Exchange which closed the session on a positive note (+0,43%), followed by Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange (+0.15%).
