African Markets Review 02 17 2020

  • In Morocco, MAROC TELECOM published its 2019 annual results, highlighting a consolidated turnover up by 1.3% (vs. 0.9% on a comparable basis) to MAD 36,517m, consolidated EBITDA increased by 6.6% (vs. 3.4% on a comparable basis) to MAD 18,922m, consolidated adjusted EBITA grew by 4.4% (vs. 4.3% on a comparable basis) to MAD 11,540m, an adjusted NIGS rose by 0.4% (vs. 1% on a comparable basis) to MAD 6,029m, proposed DPS of MAD 5.54 versus MAD 6.83 in 2018, and, recognition of a provision in its 2019 financial statements of MAD 3.3bn relating to the ANRT's sanction;
  • A global agreement for the participation of banks in the capital increase of the Tunisian company CARTHAGE CEMENT and the repayment of part of its bank debt was reached at a meeting at the headquarters of AL KARAMA HOLDING;
  • In Egypt, the BoD of TRANSOCEANS TOURS approved results for the financial period ending December 31st, 2019, which revealed posting tax-deducted profits of EGP 5.2m, up from EGP 1.9m a year earlier, with a 169.6% increase;
  • Among the covered African markets, Casablanca Stock Exchange recorded the highest daily performance (+1.11%), whereas Nairobi Securities Exchange pointed the lowest one (-1.09%).
