Co. is engaged in the retail trade of food through cut-price self-service supermarkets and franchise establishments. Co. is engaged in the operation of stores located in Spain, France, Portugal, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil and China.

Jeronimo Martins S.G.P.S. is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is engaged as a food distribution company with operations in Poland and Portugal. Co. operates in four segments: Portugal Retail, which comprises the business unit of JMR - Gestao de Empresas de Retalho, SGPS, S.A. (Pingo Doce supermarkets); Portugal Cash & Carry, which includes the wholesale business unit Recheio; Poland Retail, which includes the business unit with the brand Biedronka; and Others, which includes marketing services and representations, restaurants in Portugal, health and beauty retail in Poland, and its retail business in Colombia.

Co.'s main asset, Casino, represents 99% of its consolidated sales; and Groupe GO Sport specializes in retail sporting goods through its GO Sport and Courir brands. Co. also manages investment portfolios with financial assets (LBOs, real estate funds, energy, development capital), and real estate assets (shopping malls and residential developments). Co.'s activities are divided into three segments: food and general retailing (through Casino); sporting goods retailing (through Groupe Go Sport); and financial holdings and investments.
